Plot

They call me “The Devil.”

Deranged and violent. Gorgeous but frightening. I’m a business man so when one of my debtors offers me his fiancé in exchange for a debt settled I figure why not, the woman will be a quick sell. Repayment comes in the form of a beautiful but haunted young woman. The light in her tempts the darkness inside of me. Teases it, tortures it. I want to hurt her. I want to break her. I want to keep her. Lucky for Celia she fails to see that there is no goodness in me and when she attempts to draw me in with her innocence, and sweet naive heart I thrive to show her the cruel monster I am.

Conclusion

TW: graphic violence and sexual assault

I really liked the authors writing style. Everything  went hand in hand and thus made it easier to read.

The plot and the pace of the book were a huge part of why I kept reading. Unfortunately I couldn't quite warm up to either of the protagonists. The plot combined with the authors writing and the intensity made this book into a page turner for me!

'Devil You Hate' is a good mafia romance/ dark romance book, and if you enjoy those this might be a book for you!

The cliffhanger was very well written and I look forward to reading the second book because the suspense nad my questions are killing me.

3,5 out of 5 stars

Plot

I’ve waited three long years for this…

Hiding. Lying. Spying.

Waiting like a spider for her to wander into my web…

Now she’s here, and I have to get even closer to her. I’ll help her. Befriend her. Seduce her, even.

The only thing I can’t do is fall in love with her.

Her father took everything from me: my money, my family, my life.

He has to pay for what he’s done. And she’s the only thing that can hurt him…

Conclusion

The Spy might've been my favorite out of the whole Kingmakers series. I could not put this book down because it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
This was a great ending to the series.

I loved how Sophie Lark let all the characters develope throughout the story. This goes for the main characters Nix and Ares, as well as all the side characters.

The pace of the plot was quite satisfying and nothing felt rushed or anything.

The only critique I have is that sometimes I felt overwhelmed because so much was happening.

If you enjoy mafia romances, happily ever afters, and good plot twists I would recommend this book to you!
