                                             Plot

It all started in Vegas...

After a wild and tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Evelyn Thomas and her rock star husband David Ferris have been happily married for years. Nothing needs to change, their life together is perfect. Which means that change in the shape of an unexpected pregnancy is bound to shake things up some. But could it be for the better?

                                          Conclusion

I really enjoyed diving into the Stage Dive World again. It kinda felt like coming home after being abroad and seeing all your friends again. Not only did we get an update on Evie and David but also on their friends and family that we could read about in other books. The novella had a little shock moment that caught me offguard and I really liked that. I was expecting it to go different. The climax and amount of drama were perfect. The only critique point I had about the novella was that it wasn't as long as I wanted it to be. That does not change how much I liked the story, the characters and the conflict between them.

All in all another great story by one of my favorite authors.

Dirty Curve - Meagan Brandy

" I'll be anything you want me to be if you just let me be yours."

Pages: 461
Published: September 3rd, 2021
Kindle: 3, 41
Paperback: 15, 31
Available on KU

Plot

You know how in college there’s that one guy everyone wants to be?

That’s me.

I’m the top dog.
The number one.
The big man on campus.

Some say those things are solid wins.
My new tutor would disagree.

My title means nothing to her.
My status lost on her.

And now my mind? That sucker is stuck on her.

She was told to make our sessions priority over all, to drop everything when I need her, and come to me. She does.

But I don’t want to steal her time anymore.
I want to earn it.

If anyone can do that, it’s me.

I’m Tobias Cruz, the king of the curveball. I don’t lose.
Not the game, and surely not the girl.

Little did I know, this girl has herself a secret … and it’s the dirtiest curve yet.

Conclusion

I've been waiting for this book for soooo long, and luckily Meagan Brandy did great!

It's always kinda funny when the heroine doesn't fall for the hero as soon as they meet because the heroes seem so shocked. I loved how Tobias didn't leave after he found out Meyer's little secret. Instead he chose to stay and help. Other guys his age wouldn't have done that in real life I think.
Meyer is such a sweet girl. She was always trying to do the right thing, even when it was difficult.  The way she handled problems was very mature.
I really enojyed how this wasn't the typical love-at-first-sight love story. Instead we got to see Meyer and Tobias fall in love with each other the more time they spent together.

I did not see the plot twist coming. It definitely went into a different directions than the one I was expecting it to go.
To be honest, my only complaint would be that I feel like the plot twist wasn't as dramatic as I thought it could've been but apart from that everything was great.

As always Meagan Brandy did not disappoint!!!

'Dirty Curve' is a great slow-burn sports romance, with an unexpected plot twist, great chemistry between the main characters, and a HEA. If that sounds like something you like this might be a book for you.

Devil You Hate - C.Hallman & J.L. Beck

Pages: 265
Published: April 16, 2021
Kindle: 4,19€
Paperback: 11,45 €

Plot

They call me “The Devil.”

Deranged and violent. Gorgeous but frightening. I’m a business man so when one of my debtors offers me his fiancé in exchange for a debt settled I figure why not, the woman will be a quick sell. Repayment comes in the form of a beautiful but haunted young woman. The light in her tempts the darkness inside of me. Teases it, tortures it. I want to hurt her. I want to break her. I want to keep her. Lucky for Celia she fails to see that there is no goodness in me and when she attempts to draw me in with her innocence, and sweet naive heart I thrive to show her the cruel monster I am.

Conclusion

TW: graphic violence and sexual assault

I really liked the authors writing style. Everything  went hand in hand and thus made it easier to read.

The plot and the pace of the book were a huge part of why I kept reading. Unfortunately I couldn't quite warm up to either of the protagonists. The plot combined with the authors writing and the intensity made this book into a page turner for me!

'Devil You Hate' is a good mafia romance/ dark romance book, and if you enjoy those this might be a book for you!

The cliffhanger was very well written and I look forward to reading the second book because the suspense nad my questions are killing me.

The Spy - Sophie Lark

Pages: 518
Published: July 28, 2021
Kindle: 3,99€
Paperback: 16,04 €
Available on KU

Plot

I’ve waited three long years for this…

Hiding. Lying. Spying.

Waiting like a spider for her to wander into my web…

Now she’s here, and I have to get even closer to her. I’ll help her. Befriend her. Seduce her, even.

The only thing I can’t do is fall in love with her.

Her father took everything from me: my money, my family, my life.

He has to pay for what he’s done. And she’s the only thing that can hurt him…

Conclusion

The Spy might've been my favorite out of the whole Kingmakers series. I could not put this book down because it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
This was a great ending to the series.

I loved how Sophie Lark let all the characters develope throughout the story. This goes for the main characters Nix and Ares, as well as all the side characters.

The pace of the plot was quite satisfying and nothing felt rushed or anything.

The only critique I have is that sometimes I felt overwhelmed because so much was happening.

If you enjoy mafia romances, happily ever afters, and good plot twists I would recommend this book to you!

Pause - Kylie Scott

“That’s what I’m telling you, my love. I am comfortable with more. I’m comfortable with all of it when it comes to you.”

Pages: 194
Published: July 13, 2021
Kindle: 3,35 €
Paperback: 14,33 €
Available on Audible

Plot

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful—with her best friend—and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything.

Leif Larsen—tattooist, joker, and player—has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction. So when he needs a new roommate, he invites Anna to begin her new life with him.

Although their lives may have been put on pause, together they just might find a way to heal.

Conclusion

As always Kylie Scott did not disappoint me.

Anna and Leif basically meet because of a really bad accident and if that is not Kismet then what is? It's like they were destined to meet.

It was great that Anna, the heroine, stood up for herself and I really enjoyed her personality and her way to self discovery.

One of my favorite parts of the book was Leif, the hero. He's a charming tattoo artist and he was really sweet, especially with what he did for Anna after the accident.

I liked every character in this book except for Anna's ex best friend and her ex husband. He was such a douchebag and to be honest the ex best-friend was just as much of a tool as he was.

If youre looking for a slow burn, strangers to friends to lovers book with amazing characters over 25 I'd really recommend 'Pause' to you.

My only complaint is that the end felt a little rushed.

Just like her other books 'Pause' will go on my list of comfort books because the charactera are so loveable and although there is a little drama it's nothing too overwhelming.

Sancte Diaboli: Part Two

" You deserve so much more than you know."

Pages: 316
Published: 9 June, 2021
Kindle: 4,10
Paperback: 17,14
Available on KU

Plot

He held a darkness that could never be touched.
She carried a light that could never be seen.
Not by anyone. Only by each other.
Simply two halves of the same soul, Brantley and Saint were fused together with equal parts wrath and peace. Nothing could break through their bond. Nothing.
Until now.

Conclusion

WOW! This will go on my 2021 book highlights list!

It's been a couple days aince I've read this book but I still can't wrap my head around the fact that this was the last EKC book.

As always Amo's writing was absolutely flawless. It made it easy to get into the story. It made it even easier to read it in one sitting. It definitely was a page turner, and had me hooked until the very last word.

Sancte Diaboli: Part Two was completely unpredictable and it was filled with lots of surprises and twists. If you don't like dark romances this might not be the book for you. Brantley is one kinky MF but I feel like he found his soulmate in Saint in every way. They are complete opposites of each other, darkness& light, and yet they are a perfect match. I love how much Brantley loves Saint. He basically worships her.
I also really enjoyed the scenes with Bishop& Saint, and basically evey scene that included Madison ( in case you were wondering if she is back yet ;) )

The bits and pieces that we got from Madison and Bishop will make it so hard to wait for Ruined Castles!!

I still cannot believe that it is over. The Elite Kings Club will always have a really special place in my heart, and on my bad days they will continue to be my safe haven. Thank you Amo for this insane rollercoaster of emotions.♡

Fake - Kylie Scott

Pages: 258
Published: May 18th, 2021
Kindle: 3,33  €
Paperback: 17,24 €

Plot

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having her life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a re-match made in Hollywood?

Conclusion

Since the "fake relationship turning into something real" is one of my favorite tropes I just had to read Kylie Scott's new book.
And let me tell you this, I don't regret it. AT ALL!!
It was really easy to get into because of how well Kylie Scott writes.

The book was written from Norah's POV. I loved her sassiness and how relateable she was. I also enjoyed that she didn't let anyone treat her like shit and how she stood up for herself in the end.

Patrick is a famous actor but still was very down to earth in my opinion. To be honest I feel like he didn't deserve the reactions to what he did. His behavior showed when exactly he realized he fell in love with Norah and I would've loved to read at least a few chapters from his point of view.

Patrick and Norah had such great chemistry that even when their relationship was "fake" it felt like it wasn't. It felt real the whole time.

Rookie Move - Sarina Bowen

" I loved you when I was sixteen, I told you when I was seventeen. When I was eighteen you cut me loose. But I never stopped."

Pages: 338
Published: September 6, 2016 by Rennie Road Books
Kindle: 3, 99 €
Paperback: 7, 15 €
Available on Audible

Plot

Georgia Worthington and Leo Trevi were the golden couple of their high school. He was the hockey team captain, she was a tennis star. Until graduation, when tragedy pulled them apart.

Five years later, everything's coming together for Leo. His dreams of playing professional hockey seem to be coming true as he's called up from the minors to play for the NHL's newest team. The only problem? The team's publicist is the woman who broke his heart.

As she tries to prove herself as the senior PR specialist for a major NHL franchise, the last thing Georgia needs is the distraction of her former flame. But when Leo arrives at the press conference that can make or break her career, Georgia realizes that the man she put her on ice might still be able to melt her heart.

Conclusion

*TW: Rape*

'Rookie Movie' is the perfect read for in between. The characters are down-to-earth, with a few exceptions for douches in the hockey team. Leo and Georgia had great chemistry and I loved the fact that they were high school sweethearts. Leo was a great character. He never pushed Georgia to do omething she would've been uncomfortable with, not in high school and not when they meet again.

This book had just the right amount of drama, not too little but also not too much. I'm glad that everything worked out for them in the end.

I'm usually not a fan of the third POV but Sarina Bowen's writing was so good that I was able to ignore that.
I'm super excited to get my hands on book two because apparently it's about O'Doul.

If you like sports romance, hockey in this case, second chances and good guys instead of bad boys I would recommend 'Rookie Movie' to you.

Plot

Just when this runaway bride has nowhere left to turn, a handsome stranger offers her a broad, muscular shoulder to cry on. But Lydia's already tried Mr. Right and discovered he's all wrong--maybe it's time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?

Conclusion

Kylie Scott is one of my favorite authors of all time. From my own experience I can say that she hasn't written a single bad book. This was another amazing book of hers.

Lydia, the heroine, is so entertaining because of her humor and her insecurities made her even more relateable for me.
Vaughn, the hero, is super charming and I loved how protective and caring he is when it comes to Lydia.

The prologue had me hooked immediately. Everything from the first to the last page was absolutely perfect.

This book gets some extra points for having Stage Dive character cameos ;).

There really isn't much to say except that it was really really good. I have re read this every single year for the past four years I think and everytime I read it again it reminds me why it is one of my favorite books.

If you need a fast paced book with great main and side characters, sizzling chemistry, funny dialogues and a HEA or if you are just a fan of Kylie Scott I would recommend this to you.

Girl at Heart - Kelly Oram

Pages: 264

Paperback: 8, 66 €
Available on KU and Audible

Plot

As the daughter of a successful Major League pitcher, Charlie Hastings has baseball in her blood. Unfortunately, being the only girl on her high school baseball team, Charlie has always been just one of the guys.

When her best friend, and secret love of her life, asks another girl to the prom, Charlie is devastated. She’s tired of being overlooked by boys because she’s not like other girls. Suffering a massive identity crisis, she decides to hang up her cleats and finally learn how to be a girl.

But with only two weeks until the state championships, the Roosevelt High Ravens can’t afford to lose their star catcher. Team captain Jace King makes her a deal: Don’t quit the team, and he’ll help her become the girl she’s so desperate to be. After all, he’s got four sisters, one of whom happens to be a cheerleader. He knows a thing or two about girls. (And if he can win her heart in the process, all the better.)

Conclusion

'Girl At Heart' was such a good book and I'm really mad at muself for waiting so long to read it. I'm glad I finally did because it is now another book that is going on my 2021 book highlights list. I read it in one sitting and I enjoyed every single second of reading it.

I loved Charlie so much. I don't get why some people think it's impossible to be an athlete and girly at the same time. I'm glad that Oram showed that eventhough Charlie started to wear dresses and skirts and she started to wear make up she was still able to win the championship. Her dad and the way he supported her thorigh everything was great too.

Something else I liked is how Leila wasn't depicted as the typical cheerleader. She wasn't mean and bitchy at all but rather she was shown as helpful, nice and really sweet.

Jace was amazing too. I loved that he liked Charlie just the way she was, whether it was as an athlete or when she started wearing skirts, etc. He supported her no matter what her decision was. The whole time I was scared that Charlie would chose the wrong guy.

The worst part about this book were Charlie's "best friends". They kept making fun of her trying to do more girl stuff or the fact that she wanted to go to prom too. Eric's comments about Charlie being a teammate and not seeing her as a girl but rather one of the boys pissed me off so much. It's obvious that she is a girl and if they would've really seen her as a friend they would've asked her if she wanted to go with them.

If you like a sweet young adult romance and need a new light / feel-good read I would definitely recommend 'Girl At Heart'.

Dear Ava - Ilsa Madden-Mills

Pages: 376

Plot

The rich and popular Sharks rule at prestigious, ivy-covered Camden Prep. Once upon a time, I wanted to be part of their world—until one of them destroyed me. The last thing I expected was an anonymous love letter from one of them.Please. I hate every one of those rich jerks for what they did to me. The question is, which Shark is my secret admirer? Knox, the scarred quarterback. Dane, his twin brother. Or Chance, the ex who dumped me. . . Dear Ava,Your eyes are the color of the Caribbean Sea.That’s stupid. What I really mean is, you look at me and I feel something REAL. It’s been ten months since you were here, but I can’t forget you. I’ve missed seeing you walk down the hall. I’ve missed you cheering at my football games. I’ve missed the smell of your hair. The truth is, I wanted you back then—but you had him.And then everything fell apart that night.Don’t hate me because I’m a Shark. I just want to make you mine. Still.

Conclusion

*TW:Rape, Slutshaming, Bullying*

Dear Ava is one of the few books that have made me cry and it is definitely a highlight of 2021.

Eventhough Knox is a pretty popular and a quarterback he isn't depicted as cocky and mean as they are usually. I loved that he believed Ava and even helped to get her the justice she deserved. I loved the fact that he likes Star Wars and that he was so nice to Ava's little brother. He was way sweeter than I was expecting him to be. Knox was a great book boyfriend.

Ava has been through a lot. I probably couldn't go through what she did. I would've given up and although this is pure fiction I'm proud of her for staying strong. One of the best parts of the story was that, unlike in real life where many boys and girls don't get the justice they deserve, Ava got hers.

Their chemistry was off the charts. The humor in 'Dear Ava' was great and the scenes with Ava's little brother were so wholesome.

If you don't have triggers and want to read a wholesome story with a strong female character and a nerdy quarterback I would definitely recommend 'Dear Ava' to you.

Dangerous Silence - Audrey Rush

Pages: 217

Plot

My father’s dying wish was for me to marry a monster.

A man who chooses silence over the sounds of life.

When I look at him, I don't see my future husband.
I see a criminal. A murderer. A man with no soul.

Instead, the truth is alluring. Everything changes.

So what happens when you finally realize that everything you believed in, is a lie?
When the man who shows you the truth is an irresistible killer?

Suddenly, I can’t tell right from wrong,
pain from pleasure,
hatred from desire.

His dark gaze leaves no doubt:
Axe would rather kill me than love me.
But he’ll never let me out of his cage.

Conclusion

*TW for book: violence and abuse*

'Dangerous Silence' might be one of the most intense books that I have ever read. It was way darker than I was expecting it to be.

Demi (18), the heroine of the stroy, was very sweet and innocent. After her dad dies she is basically thrown into a world that is nothing like she is used to. Axel (33), the hero, made a promise to Demi's dad to take care of her after his death. He was a brutal charcter with a twisted mind.

'Dangerous Silence' had it all. The characters were well written. The pace of the story was good. Audrey Rush's writing style was phenomenal. It made it easy to dive into the story and it had me hooked. This might've been the first book ive read by her but it is not going to the the last. I'm excited to read her other books.

I would recommend 'Dangerous Silence' to you if you are a fan of age-gap, twisted stories and dark mafia romances.

I can’t.
I just pray this one night doesn’t destroy us both.

Conclusion

First of all, the cover looks amazing!

Mafia Prince by Vi Carter is an irish mafia/ dark romance / enemies-to-lovers book.

The plot was amazing. I really enjoyed the whole debt paying part of the story. Jack and Maeve really made the sparks fly in this book.

I won't say too much because I don't want to risk writing any spoilers in here but the characters and their developement thorughout the story was amzing, the plot was great, there were some surprises and all in all it was an amazing book.

This might have been my first book by Vi Carter but it's not going to be my last. Her writing style got me hooked immediatly.

If you like enemies-to-lovers and dark/mafia romance I'd recommend it to you.

Twisted Cravings - Cora Reilly

"QUOTE"

Pages:
Published: March 16th, 2021
Kindle:
Paperback:
Available on

Plot

As the youngest brother of the notorious Falcone clan, Adamo grew up surrounded by blood and violence. Drugs soon became his way of coping.

Becoming a Made Man like his brothers was his destiny, but never his passion. When he becomes the organizer of his family’s successful illegal street races and one of their thrill-seeking drivers, he finally asserts his own path in the harsh mafia world.

His purpose isn’t the only thing Adamo discovers on the fuel-soaked roads he calls home…

Dinara Mikhailov is one of the few female race drivers and hard to ignore. Not only because of her flaming red hair and ruthless driving style, but also because the Bratva princess is allowed to drive in enemy territory.

Soon Adamo and she find themselves entangled in a passionate game that goes beyond the racetrack. Yet, both haunted by events of the past, their dark cravings put everything on the line.

As what they crave the most comes with a brutal price.

Conclusion

Twisted Cravings was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and it did not disappoint me. I was really curious about how Adamo would be as a grown-up in comparison to how he acted like a teenager in the other books in the Camorra Chronicles.

Adamo wasn't as cruel as I thought he would be. Don't get me wrong, he's not an angel but he is definitely not as bad as his brothers are. I really enjoyed the scenes when he went home to his family.

Dinara was really sassy and the fact that she enjoyed racing as much as Adamo brought me a lot of joy. They complete each other. One of my favorite things was that neither Adamo nor Dinara needed overly romantic gestures to show their love to each other. They are unique in their own way.

There really isn't much to say except that if you've liked the other books in the Camorra Chronicles and you want to read about the youngest Falcone brother you should. Cora's writing style is amazing and it makes it really easy to love her characters and their stories.

This was a bittersweet ending for a great book series and although I am sad that it is over now, knowing that the Sins of the Fathers (the series will be about the new generation) is coming is making saying goodbye a little easier.

The Devil Wears Black - L.J.Shen

Pages: 363
Published: March 9th, 2021
Kindle: 4,49 €
Paperback: 9,99 €
Available on KU

Plot

Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.

When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.

What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?

Conclusion

The Devil Wears Black is an enemies to lovers, fake fiance, and kind of a second chance romance. I really enjoyed that although it seemed like Chase would be a jerk because of the teasers he was not as bad as I thought he would be. (He has a tendency to be a jerk tho.)
Maddie did not act like a doormat and stood up for herself most of the time. I really loved the letters her mom wrote. They were a nice addition to the beginning of each chapter.
Although The Devil Wears Black was a good book it wasn't anything special and it wasn't any different from other billionaire /fake fiancé romances I`ve read before.

Since Shen still hasn't addressed the accusations this will be my last review for any of her books.

People like to say that revenge is a dish best served cold. But it takes planning and patience to seek true vengeance when you’ve been wronged. And the best revenge takes time. You have to smile when you want to scream. Laugh, when you want to cry. Play nice, while you dream of going for the jugular. For that, you need boiling hot rage. I am the cleansing fire that will burn out every bit of the evil at St. Bart’s College. I’ll cross each of the Havoc boys off my list until I’m the last one standing. One by one, they will fall. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to see that happen. Even pretend to fall in love. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord. But I can’t wait on heaven, so instead, I’ll raise hell.

Conclusion

Raise Hell was definitely not what I expected it would be. It's an intense story, fast-paced, and a quick read. I really did not see that plot twist coming. It was a huge surprise for me.

Olivia is a strong character and always held her head up high. I don't know what it was but I just could not warm up to the male protagonist in this story.

Unfortunately, this book ends in a cliffhanger so if you don't like those you should wait until the trilogy is complete.

If you enjoy college bully romances, enemies-to-lovers, big surprises, and a little mystery in your books and you also don't mind a huge cliffhanger you should read Raise Hell by Ashley Gee. This was my first book by her and let me tell you, her writing style is amazing and it makes the story even better.

Plot

Penny

I used to think that I was better than him. I thrived at a private school for gifted children, and he barely made it through the public school system. I was smarter, and I didn’t miss an opportunity to let him know it. Then, I told a lie to get him in trouble and out of my way. Turns out, karma is a bitch.Five years later, my once oh so promising life is nothing more than a fading memory. I’ve hit rock bottom. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, fate has one more cruel twist in store for me.

Ryder

I hated her from the moment we met. My hate has only grown over the years. I lost everything because of her, went to jail, and became the man I am today. So, when she shows up at my club, unable to repay her debt, I can’t believe my luck. She owes me more than the five grand, and I’m going to enjoy making her pay.

Conclusion

C.Hallman's writing style is really engaging and made it easier to read Pennys' and Ryders' story. I really liked that Ryder took care of Penny when she was beaten because it made him a little more likeable. I also liked how their story developed from only having sex with each other to falling in love.

The first scene was disturbing and all the men in the MC disgusted me in this book.

If you have triggers such as dub-con, non-con and sexual assault you should not read this book.

If you don't have any triggers and you're a fan of the dark romance genre and enemies-to-lovers storiea then this might be a good book for you.
